We had a good attendance at the recent meeting so thank you to those who attended or sent apologies. You can download the Powerpoint presentation here. One key theme was evident and this is that parent’s wish to retain a Catholic Grammar school and that we must individually do our bit (petitions, letters, website etc) to raise awareness and concern over Diocese & Slough proposals. |

Today St Bernard's, in conjunction with at least some of the other Voluntary Aided schools in the Diocese, received a letter about the School Fund. The letter explained that with the departure of the Sisters in 2006, there have been additional demands on the school to fund the 10% contribution of Voluntary Aided schools to Capital Projects and the general work that the Sisters had generously funded in their time as Trustees. A leaflet that accompanies the school fund, Building their future, points out some unpalatable truths. |

The proposed merger of St Bernard's and St Joseph's may not occur and is, in any event, some years away, so why rock the boat? As I see it, it's because this proposal will have the greatest effect on a relatively few number of children, so if you are the parent of one of those children and don't take an interest then the proposal will be waved through. |
